NAVIGATING AROUND THE SITE
These pages have been designed to allow you to find Learning Mentors (by surname),
Schools where each Learning Mentor is located and schools within each of the six
Networks across the city. In addition, there are pages which give important dates for
meetings and training as well as a page of web sites which will take you directly to the
home pages of interesting and relevant organisations. The links on the left will take you
to each of these pages.
MENTORING - A Working Definition
Mentoring is best understood and defined by it's context. For Learning Mentors in
schools the mentoring activity can be defined as:
"The Learning Mentor supports the learner to extend their potential
by removing barriers to learning"

CONGRATULATIONS
This page last modified on Wednesday, September 26, 2001
I shall shortly be leaving Queensbury School and the Learning Mentor
profession to take up a new post with the SEN Parent Partnership Service.

Unfortunately this will mean that I will no longer be able to maintain the
Mentors' Information Site.

I would like to hear from anyone who would like to take over the site's
maintainance and I will, of course, explain how the site was set up and
what input is needed to keep it up to date.

I do hope that one of the mentors feels able to keep the site going and I
shall try to maintain the site until the end of December to give people a
chance to contact me.

Regards

Peter Hawkins

Julia Tortise a Learning Mentor from Heartlands High School in
Nechells has been seconded for two days a week to oversee
Coral Gardiner's contract until the end of March 2002.
She will be facilitating the Inset training sessions previously run by
Coral on the published dates. The next session on 19th November
at the Fentham Road site will present Pat Lee, a very experienced
and highly qualified school nurse who will be the guest speaker.
Pat will be addressing the role of the school nurse and how this
may link in with Learning Mentors.
